With increasing growth of the population, global warming and limited resources, food security is becoming a very discussed and worrying topic. A result of these pressing discussions came the ‘Biomimicry Global Design Challenge’. The Competition involves submitting a commercially viable, nature-inspired solution to the global food system challenges.

The process involves the selection of the best design concepts and award the finalists with $50,000 to create a functional prototype to return in May 2016 to compete for the $100,000 prize.

The applicants designs inspired by nature are really incredible and worth a look on the Biomimicry Global Design Challenge website http://challenge.biomimicry.org/en/
